Experience:

Main Propulsion Assistant: (April 1995 to Present) Serve aboard the USS Thomas Jefferson (CVN 77). Supervise four other officers and 55 machinists mates in the operation and maintenance of all primary and secondary systems associated with the Number Two Reactor Plant. Qualified as Nuclear Engineer by examination by the Department of Naval Reactors in May 1996.

Collateral duties have included being selected as one of three officers from 15 Engineering Duty Officers for shift supervision of over 50 technicians during a restricted overhaul period. Planned, scheduled, and supervised all aspects of the overhaul period including the removal, repair, and reinstallation of key nuclear valve components.

Reactor Controls Assistant: (May 1993 to March 1995) Served aboard the USS Thomas Jefferson (CVN 77). Supervised two other officers and 30 electronics technicians responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the Number Two Reactor Plant controls and safety systems. Was specifically chosen for duty during the new construction, reactor plant testing, and the initial criticality of the USS Thomas Jefferson.

Collateral duties included serving as Divisional Training Officer responsible for the training and qualification of electronics technicians in nuclear theory, plant operations, and reactor safety systems. Supervised all aspects of the training of shipboard personnel including curriculum development, classroom instruction, and hands-on training.

Awards:

Awarded the Navy Achievement Medal three times for superior watch standing during an Operational Reactor Safeguards Examination resulting in an overall grade of "Excellent" in all three instances.

Personal:

Married with two children. Interests include flying, backpacking, and outdoor activities. Eagle Scout. Certified as an Engineer in Training by the State of Maryland. Fluent in all Microsoft programs.
